You
may ask why we need yet another
organisation from the "Muslim or
Pakistani" communities. I would like
to explain that we are different
from others in our work and our
values.
We focus on key issues impacting on
our lives especially educational
underachievement and risks
associated with religious
radicalisation. We will work with
everyone including all statutory
bodies to tackle these issues.
Our work will entail highlighting
key issues as well as identifying
positive aspects of our lives. We
will work to overcome issues
affecting us as well as celebrating
our many successes.
We aim to work proactively with the
mainstream media to counter the
negative stereotypes associated with
British Pakistani young people and
highlight the positive contributions
they add to British society.
The BPYC is a political and a
non-sectarian group. We will
therefore work with all political
parties and groups to secure and
assure our genuine participation in
the life of Great Britain.
We will proactively work to secure
inclusion, equality and promotion of
human rights for all. As citizens we
will demand protection of our rights
as equal citizens. We shall not
compromise in securing our social,
economic and spiritual wellbeing.
However, we also recognise our
responsibilities and do everything
in our power to promote Great
Britain and its legitimate
interests.
I do hope that you will endeavour to
work with BPYC to address the
challenges impacting on our lives.
Kind Regards,
Raja Kamran Ishtiaq
President
